Walter Hacon, is a British singer/songwriter from London, England.

I started playing guitar in bands in the early 1970's on the London pub circuit, my early influences of that period were bands like Brinzley Schwarz, Dave Edmunds, and Roogalator.

In 1976 I signed to Island records with a new band I was working with called “The Automatics”, our first album was produced by a then, unknown producer by the name of “Steve Lillywhite” at St Peters square studios.

We toured exstensively in Britain and Europe  but by the summer of 1978 the band fell apart with the singer

“David Phelp" moving to Los Angeles to live.

I was offered  the chance to play with “Wreckless Eric” on “Stiff records” and after a few weeks rehearsals in Camden town, we headed off on gruelling tours of America, Europe and Australasia.

It was at this time that a song I wrote called “Broken Doll”appeared on Erics album,  “Big smash”, it was spotted by

Allan Tarney, “Cliff Richards” producer” and was chosen to appear on his biggest selling album to date “Wired for Sound”.

After this period I had a 16 track studio in Acton London called “Wand” which produced albums for the likes of

“Big Audio Dynamite” and several other bands of the era.

I moved to New Zealand in 1998 with my wife Gayle and two children, Curtis and Jodie, and have continued writing and playing with local Auckland bands.

I now travel between Auckland and London playing mostly solo gigs in pubs and clubs.

My latest album,”Centre of the Human Heart” was recorded at home with local producer “Mark Rimington” ,

with final production by “Malcolm Foster” {Pretenders,Simple Minds} at Octopus studios.
